Job Description

Advanced Systems Design is seeking a Business Analyst  for our client located in Montgomery, AL.

This position is onsite in Montgomery, AL, and requires in-person availability starting day 1. Only local candidates will be considered.

Job Overview:

Serves as a liaison between the business unit, business community and the IT organization to capture business requirements for technical solutions to meet user needs. Analyzes business partner’s operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions. Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology. Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications. Educates the IT organization on the direction of the business. facilitates communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation. Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise’s competitive edge. May make recommendations for buy vs. build decision.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of experience in data analysis to produce outputs and reports to make business recommendations.
  • Three (3) years of experience in business process analysis, defining system requirements, and preparing system specifications.Knowledge of current developments in information technology applications.
  • Knowledge of standalone and client/server applications in a Windows environment.
  • Knowledge of current software and hardware packages.
  • Knowledge of current database systems and technologies.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Problem analysis skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to respond to multiple competing demands.
  • Ability to apply relevant software & hardware tools.
  • Ability to continuously learn and keep abreast of technological trends.
  • Ability to manage project activities.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access) and Visio.
  • Ability to work independently and not rely on the State or other team members for direction.
