Reporting to the Vice President Clinical Operations, the Director of Radiology Services leads all diagnostic imaging operations—CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, X‑ray, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology—ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient care. Daily responsibilities include supervising technologists and support staff, aligning radiologist coverage, optimizing schedules and patient throughput, managing PACS/RIS workflow, and maintaining equipment uptime, service contracts, and preventive maintenance. This leader drives quality assurance and radiation safety, protocol standardization, dose optimization, and contrast administration policies; safeguards compliance with The Joint Commission, ACR, CMS, and state regulations; and prepares for audits and accreditations. The role oversees budgeting and capital planning, vendor and contract negotiations, supply and inventory management, and collaborates with ED, OR, inpatient, and outpatient teams to improve access and physician satisfaction. Additional duties include monitoring KPIs (turnaround time, repeat rates, patient experience), resolving service issues, coaching and developing staff, workforce planning and recruitment, revenue cycle oversight (coding, documentation), EHR integration, and leading Lean/PI initiatives to enhance operational excellence and support strategic growth of the imaging service line.
