JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Coping and Regulation of Environment Stress (CaRES) Lab, directed by Dr. Martha Wadsworth in the College of Liberal Arts at Penn State University, invites applications for a Part Time Lead Child Participant Assessor in the Harrisburg/Hershey, PA area.

The Part Time Lead Child Participant Assessor will have the opportunity to work on a NIMH-funded study, investigating the efficacy of the Building a Strong Identity and Coping Skills (BaSICS) program, which is a group-based, team-building coping and empowerment intervention developed specifically to meet the needs of youth growing up in poverty. This position will mainly be responsible for overseeing the assessments with child participants, aged 11-14 within the Harrisburg and Hershey, PA areas.

This position is responsible for ensuring assessments are conducted efficiently, data is collected accurately, and all protocols are strictly followed. Key duties include staff scheduling, training, materials preparation, data verification, and addressing any emergent issues, including safety concerns. The Lead Assessor plays a vital role in maintaining the quality, organization, and overall integrity of the assessment process.

Primary Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate scheduling of participants for available assessment time slots Assign staff assessors to assessments based on their submitted availability Organize and prepare all necessary materials and documentation for assessments Maintain accurate inventory of assessment-related materials and supplies Oversee the execution of assessments to ensure smooth operation and adherence to protocol Supervise assessors during sessions to ensure accurate data collection and compliance with all procedures Manage participant compensation, including distribution and accurate record-keeping of payments General assessment related tasks

Education and Experience:

The successful candidates for this position will have an interest in or experience with social science research or professional experience working with children and families within the community Exemplary organizational and writing skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially for working with youth Meticulous attention to detail Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately

Commitment and Duration

Assessments will be conducted in person in the Harrisburg and Hershey, PA areas Part time (~20 hours per week on an as needed basis) Shifts from 3-8 PM various days of the week This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends, primarily to accommodate the availability of participating families.
